Corn, Popcorn (Robust Pop R400MR)
Botanical Interest Brand
Frost sensitive 95-100 days
Once only commercially available, this type of popping corn is now available to the home gardener! This corn produces large, round, popped kernels sturdy enough to hold a coating a stay in one piece, unlike the more common "butterfly" shaped popcorn. Tolerant to Goss' wilt disease. This packet sows up to 18ft.
When to sow outside: Recommended;
1-2 weeks after your average last frost date, and when soil temperature is at least 60*F; ideally 65*F - 90*F.
When to start inside: Not recommended;
Roots too sensitive to transplanting. Best results occur when seedlings are transplanted less than 2 weeks old.
Special germination instructions:
Pollination occurs by wind; for best kernel formation, sow in parallel rows or blocks.
