We Love Local Art!
Each weekend we display works from a local artist. The artwork will be displayed in our greenhouse, where you can explore some of the finer things in life - art and horticulture.
Chris Bates, September 19-21
Chris Bates is a visual artist that grew up in Fort Collins. He specializes in murals, and pen and ink portraits that he calls 'finetoon' drawings. These drawings tell histories, life stories, and past events by utilizing small illustrations to make up a larger picture. His artwork invites the viewer to take time and investigate each detail. Chris loves to involve people in the creative process, whether that is by interviewing people to get the backstories for the drawings or working alongside them in a mural workshop. He is always excited to share his work with new eyes and feels extremely honored to be a full-time working artist.
Frank Lott, September 26-28
Frank is a retired mechanical inspector whose passion is taking photos of nature or items of interest ranging from old cars and buildings, to insects and flowers. He has lived in Fort Collins since 1986 and loves to capture this beautiful area with photography.
Amy Walton, October 17-19
Amy has always considered herself an artist, and creating is a driving force in her life. The subjects that inspire Amy to paint are quiet and everyday, most often found in nature. She is especially drawn to the beautiful western skies and landscapes of Colorado and Wyoming, as well as flowers and most recently old barns. Her mission is to take these simple subjects and through her mind's eye, bring them into an expressionist state of being. She often paints with a brush, but some pieces are done soley with a palette knife. Sometimes the pain is applied, sanded and many layers are built up. Other times the paint is so thick it has a life of it's own. The joy Amy gets from her work is equaled by knowing that someone else finds joy it in too.
We are still scheduling artists for 2014. Check back soon.
