Our team of designers gets more creative every year! Thank you Ria, Rachel and Rhonnie for the beautiful wreaths and the numerous hot glue gun burns you sustain. Here's a sneak peak of a few of their favorites! The Spay-ghetti and No Balls Dinner and Craft Fair is November 20th! This event benefits the Larimer Humane Society, Animal House and Fort Collins Cat Rescue and brings awareness to animal overpopulation in Northern Colorado. Each year we donated our beautifully decorated wreaths to be sold at the craft fair. The craft fair runs from 4-7pm and will feature many handmade goods. Stop by and stock up on holiday goodies! Tickets for the dinner are available at the door. For more information, visit the LarimerHumane.org How to grow paperwhites 10/31/2011
Paperwhites require little more than water to produce fragrant white blooms. Other bulbs have to be "forced" to bloom indoors, but paperwhites do not require a chilling period. Keep the bulbs at room temperature until you plant them. To "plant" paperwhites, fill a container with at least 2-4 inches of small stones, pebbles or glass marbles. Place your paperwhites on top (close together, but not touching) roots down and nestle them into the stones a bit. Leave the tops of the bulbs exposed. Finally, add water until the level reaches just below the base of the bulbs. Don't submerge the base of the bulbs in water or they will rot. In just a few days, the bulbs will start to root and the green tips will quickly shoot. Keep them watered and in about 4-6 weeks you'll have fragrant clusters of white flowers. Discard the bulbs after they're finished blooming, they'll be too exhausted to re-bloom the following year. Plant paperwhites in succession so that you'll have blooms all winter. It's time to plant spring-blooming bulbs! Tulips, daffodils, crocus and others need to be planted in fall so they can root during the winter and burst forth with color in early spring. For the longest lasting bulbs, choose bulbs that are marked "naturalizing." Bulbs need extra phosphorus to produce vibrant, colorful flowers. In each hole, add a little bulb food (like HappyFrog Bulb Food) or Bone Meal. Use bulbs for mass plantings in areas that will be shady later in the spring. An old method for a natural looking bulb display is to take a handful of bulbs, and toss them gently in the air. Where they land is where each bulb should be planted. | Bath is much more than a garden center. We are your local source for great gift ideas, landscape design, irrigation and more.
